Perhaps you saw my message when my Acer AC adapter plug was not working. I was able to find a local guy who replaced it and so far so good. I have been more careful about making sure the plug is not pulling on the connection in the computer.
Over the last few weeks, I noticed that a few of the keys on the Acer 3618awlci were not working. The 'm' key and the space bar seemed to be the most problematic. If I pushed harder, it still didn't seem to matter.
I did a bit of searching around and it didn't seem like there was any simple fix. I did see some instructions on how to replace the keyboard and figured I'd give it a shot. I found a few people selling the keyboards for the Acer 3610 (which is the base unit the 3618awlci is built upon) on E-bay. They are new keyboards that appear to be built in Hong Kong or somewhere else in Asia. Some are shipped from Asia and some are shipped from within the US. I went ahead and ordered from a place based in the US, but they clearly were getting their products from overseas. It was very inexpensive to order it and get it shipped and again I felt it was my only option as the computer was becoming unusable. I wasn't going to take it in to a real repair shop because the cost to fix it there would probably be more than the laptop is worth.
The keyboard came quickly and looks EXACTLY like the OEM keyboard in the laptop. I certainly couldn't tell the two apart. I googled keyboard replacement for the Acer 3610 and was able to find nice instructions. It was actually not that difficult. It took me no more than 15 minutes and it works perfectly.
If anyone else is having problems with keys sticking or not working on their Acer laptops, I would see if you can find a replacement on E-bay and just google the installation instructions.
