This is the second time I've gotten the free Amazon Prime Trial offer. I didn't get the free offer until I went to check-out for an order I was placing today. I do have to say that I greatly enjoy the benefits of Amazon Prime, but I don't order from Amazon enough to make it worth the $79 annual fee. I wanted to make sure that I wouldn't get charged the upgrade fee at the end of the month, and I was glad to see that it was easy to change the setting in the account settings. Of course it is set to "upgrade" to the full annual membership automatically, being charged to the credit card on file. However, if you go into "your account" settings (near the top right of the screen, just above "wish list" and "cart"), you scroll down to the third main category "Settings" and there is a link for "Manage Prime Membership". Follow that link and then you'll easily see the button to press to NOT auto-upgrade at the end of the month.
In the meantime, you'll get to enjoy the benefits of Amazon Prime:
Free Two-Day Shipping on items sold directly from Amazon.com
Upgrades to One-Day (Overnight) Shipping for the super-cheap price of $3.99 per item.
No minimum purchases required (as opposed to the $25 super-saver free shipping minimum)
All in all - makes shopping at Amazon even better.
