Someone recently asked me why they couldn't forward their hotmail account to another email address. Almost all services offer the option - but why not hotmail? It seems like they only offered it in their premium account options. I looked around and managed to find a way that seems to work. Not sure how long this method will last, but it worked for me.
Log into your hotmail account.
Select options - click "more options"
(At this point you will see an option to forward emails, but it only allows you to forward the emails to other hotmail, msn, or live addresses - if you follow the instructions below you can forward to any email address)
Select "Mobile Alerts for New Messages"
Select "Sign up for Windows Live Mobile - it's free and easy! "
Enter your cell phone number and continue
Click "Next" to send a verification code
Your cell phone will receive a text message with a verification code - this is the only text message you need to receive and you will get charged your usual text message fee from your mobile carrier, if any. I have free text messaging on my cell plan, so I didn't get any charges.
Enter your code, click "next"
Click the "Set-UP" next to "Hotmail Alerts"
Leave the default "never send hotmail alerts" checked - and click "Save"
Again click "options" in the top right corner, and again select "more options"
Now you may have more options on the left side of the page - if so, select "mail"
Now when you click "Forward mail to another e-mail account" you can forward to any email address!
Let me know if this works for you or if you have any problems.
