So, like most people interested in going to Bora Bora, this was a honeymoon trip for us. We had looked at different options for places to honeymoon, and we decided we wanted to use our HUGE amount of frequent flyer miles we've been saving up. We looked at different places but most weren't available at the time we wanted with using frequent flyer miles. It turns out that tickets to Bora Bora were available. Actually, the tickets were to Papeete, Tahiti. Papeete is the main island area. In order to get to Bora Bora, we'd have to take a small flight.
So, we went ahead and booked the tickets on American Airlines using our frequent flyer miles. The international leg of the flight is on Air Tahiti Nui, in conjunction with American. We then had to make arrangements for the short flight from Papeete to Bora Bora. Air Tahiti (different from Air Tahiti Nui) is the travel provider for the short flight. In addition, based on the times we'd arrive, we'd have to spend a night in Papeete.
I turned to Trip Advisor to help with finding places to stay. I read through the forums and also read the reviews. I've learned that you can't always trust reviews - you tend to get polarized views. But I do like to think that overall, I'm better off going with recommended places versus not-recommended places.
More to follow.
