It was time for me to buy a new scale. I looked around at Amazon and the most popular scale also has a built in body fat monitor. I've never used the body fat monitors before, but did have the caliper testing done when I was in school. It seems the electronic ones have extremely variable accuracy. I think it's interesting that one of the Omron scales is said to be a very good scale, but inaccurate as a body fat monitor. However, Omron also makes a separate body fat monitor that people rate as very good. I would think they would use the same technology and so should give similar results.
I was surprised to find that aside from the extensive comments listed on Amazon, there are not a lot of reviews on the web that I could find. I am curious just how accurate these devices are. Actually, I would be more interested to know if they are consistent, as I don't care so much what my actual percent body fat is, but I just want to know if it is getting better or worse. I am more interested in tracking progress (or regression as the case may be).
